Background Info
Herpes 1 has many different names including: chickenpox, shingles, and herpes simplex zoster. 1 out of every 3 individuals will develop some form of Herpes 1. Children most commonly develop chicken pox, whereas adults, particularly later in life, can develop shingles. The varicella zoster virus can them remain inactive within the body from childhood all the way into adulthood. Like chicken pox, shingles causes a rash of blisters (cold sores) in adults that can last up to a month. Shingles can also cause headache, fever, and stomach aches.
